The shuttle from Amtrak Lamy is expensive for what is a short trip, but an ok service. The New Mexico Museum and Palace of the Governors deserve any awards they receive. Cowgirl and Boxcar both offer well-priced, tasty food, but the Cowgirl beer list is better. Overall, Santa Fe is worth a couple of days, perhaps longer if one enjoys mooching around commercial galleries and craft boutiques (I don't).
Las Vegas folks are friendly, helpful and there are many different kinds of restaurants --- Chinese, Mexican, New Mexico food --- empanadas from Charlies's Spic and Span (just like my mother made) when I was growing up in El Macho, Pecos and Las Vegas, New Mexico. Hispanic people in Las Vegas and other Northern New Mexico places are very courteous, and hospitable. They are good people (they are not like too many people of today who all they think abour is MONEY, MONEY, MONEY! I am so proud of my New Mexico Hispanic heritage!
nice shops but close by 5pm. western bar & grill has great prices & food , also small chinese buffet just down rode (we walked ) was more than we could eat at the time so took back to motel for next day, pricing the same as the panda in tucson new mexico is a hour ahead of Az. as we do not have daylight savings there
I have always wanted to go to New Mexico and am a Billy the Kid fan so Las Cruces was perfect. It is close (1-4 hours) to many Billy the Kid sites, tons of historical areas/sites (Apache Indian, Ol Fort Sumner (4 hours), Roswell (3 hours) and close to White Sands National Monument (45-60 minutes) which is a must see. I did not patron much of the town itself but found it to be a typical small-ish dessert community. It has all the basic modern conveniences- restaurants, grocery, Kohls, Wal-Mart, etc. All set on a beautiful backdrop of desert mountains.
A great town to find everything...great food, music and arts. Not as posh as Santa Fe but that is its charm. A welcome piece of civilization in the high dry desert of New Mexico. Great coffee bars and galleries in Nob Hill.
Quaint Northern New Mexico town. We always enjoy visiting. Its shortcoming is the traffic problem on its main drag. Always bumper to bumper. They need to find a way to route traffic around the main street.
Enjoyed Old Town, where I spent most of my time, the history is very interesting. New Mexico has a lot to offer, pity no one in Old Town ABQ seemed to have any advice on how to get anywhere else.
A small, pretty town tucked away in the mountains of New Mexico. Very easy to navigate around. Good facilities, pretty pond and park. Magnificent hiking really close. Lots of history to explore.
The Pueblo museum was excellent and a must see for a greater understanding of native cultures. Roads under construction made walking to old town difficult. Old town great for shopping and dining. Church street Cafe has great New Mexico food and beautiful indoor and outdoor dining. Red and green chiles are a must on everything in New Mexico!
The architecture in SF is delightful and we particularly liked the “Roundhouse”, New Mexico’s rotunda Capitol building. The artwork there is astounding. A visit to the Georgia O’Keefe museum is a must. Visit the Sweet Lily bakery nearby.
I've stayed at Baymont by Wyndham and several cities. Roswell New Mexico is by far above and beyond all others. We are going to stay at a different hotel at one point but we went to Roswell to stay at the Baymont because it is absolute best. It is a hotel. I couldn't even tell the difference between our room and a room at the Marriott and a huge city. I would recommend this hotel to anyone! And the staff was beyond anything I could ever have expected. The best discounts day I have ever been to, and I travel a bit.
Cloudcroft
What a great find! Its so hard to find hostels in the United States. This one exceeded our expectations! The owner is very friendly and informative! The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfy! The location was gorgeous up in the mountains about 20 minutes from Alamogordo so youre out of the hustle and bustle but still close! We had a great time here and wish we could have stayed longer to do some hiking! If we ever make it back to New Mexico we definitely will be stopping here again! I would highly recommend!
I must say, this was my first time in Clovis New Mexico and I just went with my gut on where I should stay. Honestly, I couldn't have chosen a better hotel for the price Econo Lodge offered. The lady who checked me in and took care of me was tall and I think her name was Cecilia. I don't think I've ever met someone as kind as her. I could tell she genuinely cared and cares for all of her customers. If the higher ups ever read this, please give cecilia a raise. Raiden.
Roswell
Wyndham Management has done an excellent job remodeling this Day's Inn. New carpet, new paint, those Wonderful Wynham Property Matresses (large reason why we pick Wyndham owned Hotels exclusively - when available to us). We liked the New Mexico motive with the carpet. Management needs to complete reserfacing the parking lot/driveways - then it should be complete. Enjoyed the Bkfast room - nice and big to enjoy social distancing. Good, Helpful Staff.
I loved the old town character of the hotel. There is a nice hotel shop where they sell traditional New Mexico items like crosses and beautiful mosaic mirrors. The atmosphere of the hotel itself and its surroundings were such a pleasant surprise! There are few antique shops on the plaza that are definitely worth a visit. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at Stella's Café, which is only a 2 min walk from the hotel.
Socorro
Location was excellent. We were on our way from the Petrified Forest, Arizona to our next stop in Alamagordo, New Mexico and found Socorro a small, quiet town that was ideal for us as we didn't want to drive until the next day. The hotel is already quite old and basic but staff were very helpful and accommodating - loved that most about our stay.
Las Cruces
The room was very clean and the beds were really comfortable. They served breakfast, however I was not up in time to actually eat breakfast. This hotel is conveniently located just off Hwy 25 south and is right near New Mexico State University. There is an Italian restaurant close and other food services are not that far away.
Super 8 in Alamogordo did not disappoint. This place is our go-to when we visit New Mexico. The value is amazing. The owner is awesome, the place is clean & well-maintained, and the breakfast is great. If you are ever in Alamogordo, I highly recommend this hotel.
It was our first trip to New Mexico and this hotel! The king bed was super comfortable! The facility overall was very well kept! The breakfast buffet was awesome! The majority of the staff was very engaging and helpful! Beautiful location in the mountains!
Tucumcari
this hotel is a 100% stay for us whenever we travel through New Mexico it is always clean and well staffed they have a Awesome Burger joint called Blakes Lotaburger that has been there for over 50 years across the street It is a MUST eat when we stop there
The hotel itself is very pleasant, this has quickly become one of my favorite hotels in Santa Fe. The vibe is very quaint and chill southwestern. It gives off a very authentic New Mexico feel. Staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
the location was good. I liked that the hotel had a grassy area for my dog. most places in New Mexico only have rocks. I also really liked that there is no pet fee. We enjoyed the wineries in the surrounding area, and the location to old town.
When traveling across the country and staying overnight in New Mexico, this is our preferred stop. The staff always recommended us and treated us like family. The breakfast is always good and has plenty of choices.
The first hotel in New Mexico to actually honor my request to already have an extra comforter in my room upon check in. Thank you so much for being thoughtful to my simple request. It is greatly appreciated.
locations was ok, but the area of the hotel was all paved and there was no landscaping anywhere. odd for being in New Mexico. Cost was reasonable. room was decent and clean. sheets were quite rough however.
Taos
The room was very spacious. The decor is was so on point New Mexico without being over the top. Best hotel breakfast I’ve had on my trip hands down! i ordered the baked skillet eggs and it was delish!
Santa Fe
Location is excellent and staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was sufficient. The Hotel still has the flavor of old New Mexico, which you rarely find anymore.
It's a very unique place to stay in your roadtrip through New Mexico. The staff made us feel welcome. The hall and living room were amazing. The food was good.
It was like stepping back in time the hotel is the oldest operating Hotel in New Mexico just made you sit back relax enjoy the architecture and the views.
Farmington
Best hotel breakfast we enjoyed during our whole two week vacation, through Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona! Thank-you.
