Featuring an in-house hair and beauty shop, the self-service Wilhelmsen House offers central accommodations in Tønsberg. The property is a 5-minute walk to public transport. Having all the entry codes and administration sorted out by email in advance was really good: the ability to just walk straight to my room without any sort of in person check-in was really appreciated after a long journey. The gym was an unexpected bonus, which I was fortunately in a position to take advantage of. Also, the fact that all local takeaways seem to know where it is and are happy to deliver there removed a lot of decision making.

The room was neatly organized, and the controls for room lights and bathroom water were intuitive. Plenty of hot water and pressure in the shower. There’s a built in clothes line too. TV easy with music options. The window opens just enough to get a breath of fresh air, even though the room temperature was perfect. The staff was cheerful, efficient, quiet, cooperative, helpful, and pleasant. The lobby is a good place to sit with coffee/tea ready to make any time. The breakfast buffet—oh my! There is such a variety of, plenty of it, and all delicious. All the guests served ourselves quietly and the place was spotless. Hot food was hot, cold food cold.

Dating back to 1914, this hotel is a 3 minute walk from Sandefjord Station. It offers free afternoon waffles with tea/coffee, a free evening buffet, plus free sauna and gym access. The hotel staff was very kind! They gave me some tips to get to Torp airport early in the morning and told me about the shuttle bus available at the Torp station which I didn’t know about. When I left the next day at 4am the person at the reception was once again fantastic, giving me a sandwich and fruits and coffe as I wouldn’t be able to get breakfast. Very kind and helpful staff!
